Basildon Club Rapid 2019
The tournament took place on Thursday 6th June 2019, with 12 competitors. The format was a 6 round Swiss tournament, with 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move. Sum Of Progressive Scores was used as a tie breaker in cases where scores were level.
This was a hard fought competition where the winner was still in doubt to the very end. Going into the final round, Tamas needed to beat Justin, but despite having a persistent advantage he was unable to convert this into a win, so Justin held on to become Basildon Rapid Champion 2019 and thereby complete 'the double' with the Club Champion title as well. The winner of the best 140 and under score was Bill Rippon with a very impressive 3½.
Well played to all who participated and thanks to David Millward for managing the Swiss pairings.
Note: In the table below, SPS is Sum Of Progressive Scores and SOS is Sum Of Opponents Scores.
