Basildon Chess Club

Basildon Rapidplay 2015 The tournament took place on Thursday 2nd April 2015, with 16 competitors. The format was a 6 round Swiss tournament, with 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move. After 6 hard fought rounds, and a few surprise results along the way, we ended with a 3 way tie between David Millward, Tye Byram and Sean Clarke.

The play-off took place on Thursday 14th May 2015 as an all-play-all with White and Black. As expected it was a close contest that eventually came down to the last game. The winner of Sean and Tye would win the trophy, but a draw would result in another 3-way tie. This was avoided when Sean prevailed, so it's congratulations to him and commiserations to David and Tye.

Thanks to everybody for participating, and particularly to David Millward for managing the Swiss pairings and Sean for organising the competition.
