Basildon Chess Club General Information
Welcome to Basildon Chess Club !
We are a small but thriving club, with three teams in the Southend League and one in the Essex League. In addition to the competitive teams we always welcome beginners, juniors and anybody who just wants to play for fun.
The club is situated at the Papworth Trust Centre, Bradbury House, Witchards, Basildon, Essex SS16 5BP. Witchards is off of Clay Hill Road, fairly close to the town centre and railway station. The map below gives the exact location from which you can also get directions.
Note that this building has had several aliases ! It has also been known as the Basildon Progression Centre, or simply Bradbury House.
The club meets every Thursday night from 7.45pm.

Venue
Latest picture, with the building upgrade and the new front door. Look carefully and you will see some of our stalwart members queuing up in anticipation of the keyholder's arrival. In fact, there he is on the right, resplendent in his replica WHU kit!
And Remember....
We provide all necessary playing equipment.
You don't have to be a Grandmaster to join ! We welcome players of all strengths and ages.
Do I need to know how to use a chess clock? No, but we can teach you if you want to play a game to an agreed time limit.
