Basildon Rapidplay 2017
The tournament took place on Thursday 8th June 2017, with 14 competitors. The format was a 6 round Swiss tournament, with 10 minutes plus 5 seconds per move. Sum Of Progressive Scores was used as a tie breaker in cases where scores were level.
Once again we had a tremendously hard fought competition. Going into the final round, any one of the top 4 could still win. In the end, it went down to the final move in the final game when Peter's blunder gave the point and the trophy to Radu. Congratulations to Radu and his uncompromising, attacking playing style. Commiserations to Sean, Tamas and David M who all came very close.
Very well played to all who participated and thanks to David Millward for managing the Swiss pairings and Sean for organising the competition.
Note: In the table below, SPS is Sum Of Progressive Scores and SOS is Sum Of Opponents Scores.
